Antarctica experienced its warmest day in its recorded history this past March

The day was March 24th, 2015 at Esperanza Base. According to Dr. Jeff Masters and Bob Henson, the temperature hit a record high of 63.5 degrees Fahrenheight. The previous record high was recorded on April 24, 1961.

  2. What was the high in 1961? What is the average temp for this time of year? These are the things I will look up to see what kind of difference is going on. I knew the Antarctic was warming, just not sure to what degree.

  4. 63.5 in March in Antarctica? I'm fairly sure I remember it still being cold around here at that time!

  5. This year has definitely been one of the world's warmest years. My post showed that this past July produced the highest average temperatures globally, and it doesn't appear that this trend won't continue into the future.
